What can I use as proof of address for my new insurance policy?

What can I use as proof of address for car insurance? There have been a lot of big changes that have happened in my life recently. New car, new job, and new apartment! I have been shopping around for car insurance, but many of the carriers are asking for proof of address before my policy can be issued.

Car insurance carriers
may require proof of address if you have recently moved or if they are receiving conflicting address information from public records.
This is to make sure they are rating you at the proper garaging location and giving you a rate close to the
average
of other drivers in your area.
The standard requirement is for two utility bills that show location hookup, such as:
  • Electric bill
  • Gas bill
  • Internet bill
  • Cable bill (not a streaming service like Hulu or Netflix)
  • Water bill
Depending on the company, other options will be accepted if they are dated within the past 30-60 days:
  • Paystub/W2
  • Prior auto or home/renter’s insurance declarations page
  • Lease agreement for your apartment
  • State-issued ID
  • Mail from other government agencies
If you are in a situation where you have just moved and don’t have any of these documents, call your insurance carrier and explain your situation. They may have additional options for you.”
