What are the specs for a Mercury 500 hp outboard engine?
My old boat needs a new engine. A friend of mine offered to sell me his extra Mercury 500 hp outboard, but he’d have to ship it to me—I’d have to buy it remotely sight unseen. What exactly can I expect if I decide to buy this thing? What kind of specs does that engine type have?

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear that your old engine has stopped working! As for the new one you’re looking to buy, I assume you’re referring to a Mercury SeaPro 500-Horsepower outboard engine. As long as it’s in good shape, I would say buy it—that’s a quality engine right there! At 500 hp, it’s the most powerful engine that Mercury currently makes.
Of course, it’ll depend on what kind of boat you have and if the Mercury 500 hp is compatible. So let’s take a look at the specs:
