It’s a great idea to properly prepare your car for the weather you’ll be driving in. Keep in mind that Volvo recommends snow chains not be used on wheel dimensions greater than 29 inches. In addition, only single sided chains are permitted.
When it comes to snow chains, you can’t go wrong with genuine Volvo chains or
Centrax Snow Chains.
But you can go wrong if you don’t follow these guidelines:
- Always follow the mounting instructions from the manufacturer
- Fit the chains as tensioned as possible
- Tension the chains at regular intervals
- Only use snow chains on the front tires
If you’re unsure if a chain is right for your Volvo, do not use it. The wrong chain can cause serious damage to your vehicle and can even lead to an accident.
Luckily, the Volvo XC90 is an excellent vehicle to drive in winter conditions, including on snow-covered, unsalted roads, so you should be set to drive confidently in your new city.
