Was I overcharged for my towing bill?
"Do they charge more for digging a car out of snow; isn't that part of towing a car in general? My little Fiat was stuck in the snow last winter, buried under about 3' of snow. The towing bill was about $250 and the tow truck guy said it cost more since they had to dig the car out."

“$250 is a sizeable towing bill, especially if you aren’t expecting it!
It is standard for towing companies to charge more for hazardous situations such as:
- cars stuck in the snow
- pulling trees off vehicles
- cars stuck in the mud
Helping people in these situations comes along with dangers that a typical tow does not have to face.
If you have
towing coverage
or membership to a club like AAA
or Urgently, call them and see if they have any towing exceptions or extra charges that will apply in more hazardous situations in case this happens in the future.”View full answer
