Should I take my car to a dealership for maintenance?

I bought a used car from one of my friends’ coworkers. It was a great deal and the market has been so bad for used cars that I didn’t think I’d get a better price anywhere else. I’m tight on money, so I’m wary of taking my car to a dealership for maintenance, but I also don’t have a good relationship with mechanics. Should I take my car to a dealership for maintenance?
