Should I get the Virginia state-minimum insurance requirements for my motorcycle?
I just bought my first motorcycle, and I need to insure it before I get on the road. I was thinking of just getting the Virginia state-minimum requirements because I don't plan on driving too much until I'm comfortable. Should I do this?

“As a general rule, you should never get the state-minimum
liability insurance
in Virginia, or in any other state for that matter.The state minimums typically won’t cover anything outside of a minor accident, so opting for a bit more coverage is a better idea.
Since you’re in Virginia, you’ll need liability coverage and
uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage
. A 250/500/100 policy should be enough to cover your expenses if an uninsured driver hits you, while the same limits will more than likely cover damage you cause to others.”View full answer
