Is truck driving stressful?
I’ve been debating whether to switch careers, and I started looking into getting my CDL. I thought being a truck driver might change things up a bit. But I don’t know much about it as a career, except I bet there’s probably a lot of stress involved in handling big trucks. Is driving trucks a particularly stressful job?

A lot of people are making the switch to jobs that don’t involve desks, and for good reason. And jobs in commercial truck driving are opening up all over the place. But people tend to believe that truck drivers have an easy gig—after all, what’s so hard about driving a truck somewhere?
The thing is, you’re absolutely correct. Handling commercial trucks is a very stressful job. You’re not only responsible for an extremely large and heavy moving vehicle, you also have to contend with traffic, deadlines, difficult road conditions, keeping track of your own hours, making sure you
get enough sleep
, and handling the many laws and regulations that come with the job. Not to mention you’ll spend days away from your friends and family during long-distance jobs.So it’s definitely not a job for the faint of heart. But it can also be very rewarding, and truckers can also find an opportunity to work for themselves. If you’ve got the determination, get yourself a CDL manual and start learning what you’ll need to do to step into this demanding, but in-demand, career.
