Is the Lincoln Aviator a reliable SUV?
I’m shopping around for an SUV and I like the look and feel of the Lincoln Aviator. I don’t know much about Lincoln, though, other than that it’s Ford’s luxury division. Is the Aviator reliable?

There are more mid-size SUVs than ever to choose from, so considering reliability is a great angle. Judging by reviews from reputable publications, the 2022 Aviator is a reasonably reliable SUV—you could do better, but you could certainly do worse, too.
It got a five-star
crash-test rating
from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is the highest possible score. Car and Driver gave it a score of 7.5/10 and called its fuel economy “unimpressive,” especially given its luxury price tag—the 2022 Aviator starts at $51,780, a slight reduction from the 2021 model. C&D also praised its warranty, which is better than that of many similar SUVs. The top-of-the-line Black Label trim, which starts around $80,000 even includes free maintenance for four years or 50,000 miles.
In general, RepairPal ranks Chrysler and Buick as the most reliable American car brands, but Honda and Acura consistently top the charts. When it comes to luxury midsize SUVs, the Acura MDX is about as reliable as it gets, but nothing points to the Aviator being a particularly unreliable SUV, either. If your heart’s set on it, you likely won’t regret it.
