Is the Buick Encore an SUV?

When it comes to vehicles, I generally stick to SUVs—I like the Buick Encore, but it seems pretty small, and I don’t know whether or not it’s actually classified as a sport utility vehicle. Is the Buick Encore an SUV?

Yes, the Buick Encore is a sport utility vehicle, or SUV. If you want to be more exact, the Buick Encore is considered a subcompact luxury SUV, comparable to the Kia Sportage or Hyundai Venue.
In this case, the “subcompact” classification simply means that the Buick Encore’s total passenger volume—as figured by the EPA—is between 85 and 100 cubic feet. A subcompact SUV is the smallest type of SUV available for purchase in the United States.
