I was changing a tire on my 2020 Audi R8 when I noticed what appeared to be a speaker inside the wheel well. I’ve never noticed it before and wondered if my eyes were playing tricks on me. Why is there a speaker in the fender of a 2020 Audi R8?

has featured a **speaker in the fender that’s part of the premium Bang & Olufsen sound system. The reason that the speaker is located in the fender is because it helps reduce distortion and the low-end frequency of the bass that can often hinder a premium sound experience. Some drivers may not notice the difference, but true audiophiles often hear a sizable improvement.It’s located behind a wheel liner and features moisture-resistant materials, so you shouldn’t have to worry about damage to the speaker. However, a cleaning about once a year should keep it free of any debris (dirt and leaves) that may get stuck behind the liner. Just wet a microfiber cloth and wipe down the baffle (the visible part of the speaker) and dry it with a towel. That’s it!
