Is street racing a felony?
I street race a lot, and my parents suspect it (I’ll admit, my WRX is pretty slammed). But my mom said something that made me worry it could be a felony. Is it?

We understand the excitement of street racing, but let’s make sure you’re being safe.
In most states, street racing is a misdemeanor, not a felony.
For instance, in California, street racing is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and jail for up to 90 days. It’s a serious crime—but it isn’t the level of a felony.
But we still have to get on our soap box and reiterate that street racing is extremely dangerous and we don’t recommend it. Slam your vehicle all you want—but consider taking it to the track if you want to race safely. Besides, the track is way more fun anyway.
