Is Massachusetts an at-fault state?

If I caused an accident in Massachusetts, would I have to pay for it? I don’t know the difference between at-fault states and no-fault states.

No, Massachusetts is not an at-fault state. Rather, Massachusetts is a
no-fault state
, meaning that your car insurance is responsible for your bills regardless of who causes an accident.
This also means that Massachusetts residents are required to have
personal injury protection (PIP)
as part of their policy. This type of insurance will cover your medical bills and the medical bills of those in the car with you following a car accident.
