Is lane splitting legal in Wisconsin?
My wife and I just moved to Wisconsin. We’re still getting settled, but I’m itching to go on a motorcycle ride as soon as possible. However, I’m not all that familiar with the laws here. Can I lane split on my motorcycle in Wisconsin?

Unfortunately, lane splitting is illegal in Wisconsin. According to Wisconsin law, every motorist, of either a car or motorcycle, is allowed full access to their lane without being impeded by another motorist. As such, lane splitting is illegal.
Lane filtering, which is lane splitting when traffic is stopped or at a slow rate of speed, is also illegal in Wisconsin. If you’re caught lane splitting or lane filtering, you’re chancing a citation, a fine, and points on your license.
