Is it OK to drive with 2-year-old gas in your car?
I have an old truck that died about two years ago and hasn’t been driven since. Over the past few months, I’ve been making time to work on it—and today I finally got it to start running! Turns out there’s still a full tank of gas in it, and I’m desperate to take it out for a drive. What are the odds it’s OK to drive with 2-year-old gas in the car?

If the gas was only two months old, we’d say more power to you—but at two years, we’d have to advise against it. Driving with gas that’s sat for longer than a month in your car can cause a decrease in your vehicle’s overall performance, and gasoline that’s two years old can cause real damage to your engine and its related components.
We’d recommend siphoning out as much of the old gasoline as you can before refilling your tank with fresh fuel.
