Is it bad to get a car wash every day?

I overheard a coworker say that they get their car washed every day, which seems like overkill to me—I mean, I feel like that has to do more harm than good, right? Is it bad to get a car wash every day?

Wow! Getting a car wash every day definitely isn’t necessary and can actually harm your vehicle in the long run, but that largely depends on how the car is being washed and what products are being used.
Generally speaking, washing your vehicle once every two weeks is enough to keep it clean without damaging the paint or finish, but washing your vehicle up to twice a week may be necessary depending on what the vehicle is being used for.
That said, there is almost no plausible situation that would require daily car washes, and doing so will almost certainly result in cracking of the finish or clear coat, especially if the same areas are being washed over and over.
Daily washing can also result in the dulling of your car’s finish, as the repeated use of cleaners can wear down the finish faster than normal—and repairing damage to your car’s finish can be expensive.
