Is inattentive driving a moving violation?

I have a problem with distracted driving, and I’m trying to figure out ways to deter myself from doing it in the future. I’m aware that moving violations can increase your car insurance rates, so I thought that might be a great deterrent. Is inattentive driving considered a moving violation?

Inattentive driving is a moving violation, as it’s a more serious infraction that occurs while you’re actively operating a motor vehicle. However, not every state uses this phrase to describe this type of infraction.
State laws vary, so inattentive driving is often considered a less severe infraction compared to distracted driving or careless driving in certain states. Regardless of where you receive an inattentive driving ticket, you will face a fine and you may face a misdemeanor charge. This can lead to
points on your license and higher car insurance rates
.
With so much riding on your driving record and finances, take a vested effort to eliminate all distractions while you’re driving, especially concerning your phone. Put it in the glove box or center console, or use a driving-mode app to limit distractions.
