Is driving with your left foot illegal?
I have a lot of medical problems with my feet and legs, so it’s way easier for me to drive with both feet instead of just one. Am I allowed to drive with my left foot, or will I get a ticket?

I’m glad you’ve found a driving method that works for you! No, it’s not illegal to drive with your left foot, it’s just unconventional. There are a few reasons that driving with your left foot is discouraged:
- You won’t be able to brace your body with your left foot.
- Most people are much more coordinated with their right foot (much like they are more coordinated with their right hand).
- You won’t be able to rest either of your feet, since they’ll have to hover over the pedals.
- The position of the brake pedal limits your range of motion.
If you find that driving with your left foot is easier for you, though, you should keep doing it! Driving will look a little different for everyone, so it’s totally reasonable that you make modifications to make it easier for you.
