Is driving school required in California?

I want to get my driver’s license in California, but I’m not a school guy. My friend told me that I need to go to driving school, but I want to make sure before I make a payment to enroll. Does California require driving school?

If you’re under the age of 17.5,
California
requires you to go to driving school. You need 30 hours of coursework to be eligible for a driver’s license.
If you’re 18 and older, you do not need to go to driving school. As long as you can pass the written and driving tests, you can get your license without it.
Once you (hopefully) pass your exam, don’t forget that you’ll need proper car insurance to legally get behind the wheel. While car insurance for a new driver can get expensive,
