Is a Ram extended warranty worth it?
I’m about to buy a brand new Dodge Ram truck, and the dealer is offering me an extended warranty. Is investing in a Ram extended warranty worth it?

Warranties are a great way to protect from the unexpected. A Ram extended warranty could be worth it if you plan on keeping your Ram vehicle for as long as possible, or use it as a work truck.
New Ram trucks come with a Limited Basic Warranty that is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever happens first. New Rams will also be covered by a Powertrain Limited Warranty for five years or 60,000 miles. If you drive a diesel Ram, the Powertrain Warranty goes up to 100,000 miles.
An extended warranty lengthens your coverage to up to eight years or 150,000 miles. The cost varies depending on the type of plan, but on average, the cost of an extended warranty is around $3,500 for seven years of Maximum Care coverage. Typically, there will also be a $100 deductible.
It’s common for New Vehicle Plans to be offered before the limited factory warranty expires. A surcharge may apply after one year and 12,000 miles. Certified pre-owned and third-party plans are also available.
