Is a Nissan Pathfinder a full-size SUV?

My husband—we’ll call him Magnus—is obsessed with size. Everything needs to be full size. Our full-size home. His full-size value meal. Our full-size mattress at the hotel. Anyways, we’re in the market for a new SUV, and we love the Nissan Pathfinder, but Magnus is hemming and hawing over the fact that he doesn’t think it's a full-size SUV. I’m like—WHO CARES, IT MEETS OUR NEEDS! So, for the sake of my sanity, is a Nissan Pathfinder a full-size SUV?

According to Nissan, the
Nissan Pathfinder
is technically a midsize SUVnot a full-size SUV. It starts at $35,935.
However, no need to toss Magnus out a full-size window just yet, as there are alternatives to the Pathfinder. Nissan does offer a full-size SUV—the
Armada
.
The Armada is a full-size rig that offers a smooth and comfortable ride, plenty of power, great towing capacity (8,500 pounds), and a surprisingly luxurious cabin. Granted, it does come with a full-size price tag of $51,595. But… go big or go home, right?
If an Armada isn’t big enough for your husband, you could casually mention that
Toyota
offers a full size (emphasize this) SUV of its own, the
Toyota Sequoia
. The Sequoia features 120.1 cubic feet of cargo space, easily outpacing the Armada’s measly 95 cubic feet of space. It’s very roomy and offers a whopping 9,520-pound towing capacity.
Sure, it feels a bit shaky on the highway and kind of feels like you’re driving an actual house, but it’s big—that’s for sure. Like the Armada, it’s got a large starting price, with an MSRP of $52,095.
Finally, if Magnus is attracted to big-everything except price, he might want to take a look at
Hyundai
’s full-size SUV, the
Palisade
. More family-oriented, the Palisade might not be as rough around the edges as the Armada or Sequoia, but it offers plenty of comfort, a spacious interior, loads of tech and safety features, and a ton of value at every trim level. Its starting price is a very Pathfinder-esque $34,895.
Whichever full-size SUV you and Magnus settle into, be sure to protect it with a robust
