Is a Honda Prelude a good first car?
My son is getting ready to turn 16, and I was hoping to get him his first car, but I don’t have a ton of cash to spend. I found a Honda Prelude for sale at a really good price, though. Would it be a good first car?

It’s great that you’re thinking about getting your son his first car. However, the “youngest” Honda Preludes will be pushing 25 years old, which means a Honda Prelude may not make a good first car, unless your son is pretty handy in the garage.
The Prelude is a solid, reliable car, but any vehicle that is long in the tooth is bound to run into some issues—issues you or your son will have to pay to repair, out of pocket.
If you think you and your son can handle the upkeep, we say go for it. Otherwise, you may be better served by using the money you’ve set aside for your son’s car as a downpayment on a newer model.
