That spans a period of nearly 40 years from its original 1970 model year to its final production year in 2006.That makes it pretty likely you’d be able to find one for sale with some searching, but some particular model years and features might be trickier to track down than others.
Toyota introduced the Celica as pony cars like the
Ford Mustang
, Chevrolet Camaro
, and Dodge Challenger
were booming in popularity.The Celica model took on plenty of iterations over its lifespan, with many cosmetic changes being made from year to year—a lot of them hardly seem like they could be associated with the same model! The original 1970 Celica was a two-door hardtop coupe. Shortly after, the Liftback form was introduced. Then, convertible options were introduced during the third generation. In all the Celica ended up spanning a whopping seven generations.
Ultimately, declining demand for sports cars was a major factor in discontinuing the Celica after 2006.
