Is 80 mph reckless driving?
I’m about to go on a road trip, and I’m wondering how much of a risk it is to go 80 mph. Can 80 mph be considered reckless driving?

Laws vary widely state to state, so it’s hard to say if 80 mph is reckless driving without knowing where you’re located. Some states have no threshold for speeding constituting reckless driving—while some states have clearly outlined how far above the speed limit you can go before entering reckless driving territory.
For instance, Washington, D.C., has a statewide maximum speed of 50 mph and a plus-30 mph threshold for reckless driving. This means that driving 80 mph there is considered reckless.
