If I have full coverage, will it pay for my medical bills in Louisiana?

What type of insurance will cover my own medical costs? I have what's considered full insurance coverage through Progressive, but I'm wondering if it will help my pay for my own medical bills if I get in an accident.

“In Louisiana, you’re required to carry
bodily injury liability
, which is part of your
liability insurance
.
Bodily injury liability will help pay for the other party’s injuries in the event of an accident if you’re at fault, and the other driver’s liability insurance will help pay for your injuries if they’re at fault.
In some states,
personal injury protection
is an optional add-on. Some states require this coverage, but Louisiana does not. Bodily injury covers your medical expenses in the event of an accident,
Depending on your auto insurance company’s definition of full coverage, you may have
medical payment coverage
, which is the only other type of auto insurance that would pay for your own medical bills in the event of an accident.”
