It actually isn’t too difficult to change a headlight bulb right in your own driveway! You’ll just need a couple of basic tools, a new head bulb, and some elbow grease.
To change the headlight bulb in a GMC Terrain, you’ll first need to gain access to your headlight assembly. You can do this through an access port under your front wheel well, but you’ll need a hex wrench to get it open.
The opening is pretty small, but if you reach your hand inside, you’ll feel the back of the headlight bulb, which is protected by a plastic cover. To get to the bulb itself, twist the cover counterclockwise until it pops off.
From there, you’ll want to do the following:
Remove the headlight bulb by twisting it counterclockwise
Push on the clip to release the bulb from the wire
Clip in your new bulb (make sure to wear gloves when handling your headlight bulb!)
Reattach the plastic cover to the back of the headlamp
Screw the access cover back on
Once you’ve confirmed the headlight is working as it should, you’re good to drive!
