How should I turn my steering wheel for my driving test?
How should I hold my steering wheel when I’m turning during my driving test? I’m scared that I’ll fail if I steer my car the wrong way, but I don’t know what proper technique should look like.

Try not to worry too much! It’s unlikely that you’ll fail your driving test for
turning your steering wheel
incorrectly—although you could fail for exhibiting a lack of control.To keep proper control, follow these tips when turning your steering wheel during your driving test:
- Envision a clock, then hold your steering wheel at 10 and 2 unless you are turning or reversing.
- Keep two hands on the wheel at all times.
- Even if you’re nervous, try to keep a light grip on the wheel rather than white-knuckling it.
- Try not to cross your hands or arms when you turn your wheel, as this requires you to take one hand off of it.
Some people believe that you’ll fail your driving test if you cross your arms while turning, but this is an urban legend. However, it’s much easier to lose control when you steer in this manner, so avoiding it is recommended!
