How old does a car have to be to get classic car insurance?

I just bought my dream car: a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. A fellow classic car enthusiast told me I could save money by getting classic car insurance, and I definitely want to make sure it has the coverage it needs! I'm just not sure what the age limit is—how old does my vehicle have to be to get classic car insurance?

“Congratulations on your purchase (and on your very good taste)! In general, a car must be 25 years old or older to qualify for
classic car coverage
, although it can vary depending on the provider.
Not every car that old will qualify—for example, a rusted-out Ford Pinto that’s worth $200 probably won’t qualify. Your 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS, on the other hand, certainly qualifies for classic car insurance.
