How often should I shop around for car insurance?

I recently switched insurance companies because I found a better rate, but I'm wondering if I could find an even better one. Is there a specific amount of time I should wait before shopping around again?

“Switching companies because you found a lower rate is a great way to save money!
Experts typically recommend shopping around every six to twelve months to ensure you’re getting the best rate for your
car insurance
.
Car insurance companies change their rates frequently. If you have tickets or accidents, your rate can also decrease as they age. By shopping around at your policy renewal, you get the chance to be re-rated by companies.
You can also avoid cancellation fees as your policy renewal serves as a transitional period for both you and your insurance company. However, you can request
car insurance quotes
at any time.
If you find a lower rate outside of your policy renewal or mid-way through your current policy, you can still switch companies. You’ll have to review your policy’s terms and conditions to confirm there aren’t any fees or penalties for cancelling mid-term.
If you want help reviewing your policy, use the
Jerry
app! Jerry automatically reviews your policy every six months to ensure you’re getting the best rates. If there are better deals available, Jerry sends those right to your phone. And the best part–Jerry does all of this for free.”
