Can you jumpstart a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid?

I came out of work and my Hyundai Sonata hybrid won’t turn over. I’m thinking it has to do with my battery—but I remember something about a hybrid’s battery being different from the battery in a regular car. Should I call a professional to help me or try to jumpstart my car with the help of a friend? Can you jumpstart a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid?

You are correct—your
Hyundai Sonata Hybrid
doesn’t have a regular 12V battery. It has a high voltage battery along with a low-voltage lithium one.
First, try this: push in the battery reset switch, which is probably located to the left of the driver’s steering wheel, lower down on the console. Try starting your car within 15 seconds of depressing the switch.
If this doesn’t work,
Hyundai
says you can attempt to use an external power source—such as another car’s battery—to jumpstart your car. However, you will need to follow the exact sequence they recommend to avoid damaging your car. Consult your owner’s manual for specific directions.
Finally, Hyundai suggests that if you are in any kind of doubt about how to follow the directions in the manual, you should have a towing service or other professional jumpstart your Sonata for you.
