How much horsepower do headers add?
I currently drive a 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat and I want to switch out the exhaust manifold for a header to get more horsepower, but I don’t know if it’s actually worth the trouble and cost. How much horsepower do headers actually add?

Switching out your traditional exhaust manifold for a header on your
Hellcat
will give you a horsepower boost, but exactly how much will depend on the type of header you install.Headers have two basic varieties – long tube and short tube. We’ve broken down some of the major differences below.
Long tube
- Pros: Maximum HP boost, most efficient at reducing engine pressure
- Cons: Bulky, won’t fit most cars
- HP boost: 6-9 HP
Short tube
- Pros: Fits most cars, easier to install
- Cons: Not as efficient at reducing engine pressure
- HP boost: 3 HP
