EVs provide savings for individual drivers, but I was wondering how many gallons of gasoline are saved with a nationwide switch to EVs. How much gas will electric cars save in the future?

EVs provide a lot of savings on gas, especially since fully electric cars require no gasoline at all. In a report from the US Department of Energy, in 2018 the transition to electric cars was stated to have saved about 3.6 billion liters (951 million gallons) of fuel in the US.
This number has likely risen since then and will continue to rise as more and more drivers switch to electric cars.
