How much does the permit cost for an electric car in Burbank?
I’m new to LA, and I’ve been looking at getting a house in Burbank (and then installing some solar panels!). I’ve heard that there are some awesome rebates for residents in this city, but I’m wondering if I also need some type of permit for my electric car? I’m absolutely in love with my Chevy Bolt EV! What is the cost of a permit for an electric car in Burbank?

How exciting! Burbank is a great city to own an electric car. Not only does it have the famous Porto’s Bakery and a massive IKEA, but the Burbank Water and Power offers rebates up to $500 for residential customers. And a multi-family residence could qualify for up to $1,000.
Here’s what we know about the cost of a permit for an electric car in Burbank:
- While you don’t need a permit to own an EV, the City of Burbank Building Division does require a permit to install commercial charging stations or to install solar panels in your home.
- Before installing solar panels, you may also need permission from your insurance and utility company. It’s also a good idea to look into any solar energy system restrictions. And you must also have a solar meter before you install your system.
- For residential PV use inCalifornia, the permit fee is $450 for 15 kW or less. For more than 15kW it’s about $450 + $15 per kWh above 10 kWth. And in the city of Burbank, the max system allowance is for a 10Kw AC CEC rating.
- California permit fee limits for solar thermal for 10 kW or less are also $450. And for more than 10 kWth, you’re looking at $450 + $15 per kWh above 10 kWth.
