How much does it cost to replace a car radio?

My car was stolen a few weeks ago. I just got it back but the radio is missing. How much does it cost to replace a car radio?

So glad you got your car back! It can cost between $50 and $200 to replace the stereo in most vehicles.
Be aware that the cost may be higher than $200 if you have a very complex radio system.
You have two options for handling the radio replacement.
First, you can choose aftermarket replacement parts. This allows you to save money but presents additional challenges. You may need an aftermarket antenna, replacement amplifiers, and replacement backup cameras. You may lose some of the system’s original features.
Second, you can go with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts. These are slightly more expensive but the quality is bound to be higher.
It may be worth
filing a claim
against your car insurance to help cover the costs.
Theft
is a covered peril and radio damage should easily be covered by your policy. Of course, you will have to pay the deductible first. But it might be worth the effort if you have a complex radio system.
