When your teen gets their learner’s permit, it is a smart move to add them to your
car insurance
policy. In most cases, they will not impact the cost of your insurance policy yet.This is not the case for all insurance companies—some do charge for permitted drivers right away.
If your teen is driving on a vehicle already covered under your plan, you can add them as a provisional driver. Even if the rate stays the same, they will be a covered driver on the policy.
