Covered bridges were built mainly between 1825 and 1875, so even the newest is well over 100 years old. Suffice it to say, most of the remaining covered bridges cannot hold the weight of a modern vehicle.
Of course, there are exceptions. If you find a covered bridge that’s still in use, it will have a warning sign on it listing the weight capacity. And remember: if in doubt, err on the side of caution!
