I’m sorry to hear you’ve been having trouble with your car overheating and squealing. It’s true that a bad belt could cause those issues. Based on those symptoms, the car belt replacement you probably need will usually cost between $75 and $200 for parts and labor.
There are two important belts in your car, the serpentine belt and the timing belt. The timing belt keeps different components of your engine working in harmony–replacing it typically costs $300-$500 for parts and labor.
The issues you’re having sound more like a serpentine belt problem. The serpentine belt carries power to important components of your car–replacing it typically costs $75-$200.
Before getting the belt replaced, you should have a mechanic look over your car to double-check the diagnosis–the symptoms you mentioned can be caused by several different things.
While the mechanic is looking over your car and replacing your belt, take advantage of the downtime to save up to $887 or more on your car insurance.
