The XRS was the high-performance version of the
Toyota Corolla
made to compete with the Honda Civic Si. While it might not appear different from a standard Corolla, you’d definitely notice the difference when you hit the gas pedal. The original XRS’s four-cylinder engine could generate up to 170 hp.Unfortunately for early fans, the Toyota Corolla XRS was only offered for a brief time before being discontinued due to low sales—and some would argue that lack of awareness about the XRS was a factor in that. The 2005-2006 edition is generally considered to be the better buy, as the 2007 edition offers less horsepower.
Since so few were made in the first place, they can be difficult to find for sale, but they do occasionally pop up from time to time, so it never hurts to keep your eye out for one. And if you do nab one for yourself, remember to protect it with the right
