What happens if you get too many driving points in Illinois? I live in Chicago so if you’re not careful, it’s really easy to get tickets at photo-enforced speed traps. Will I lose my license if I get too many?

Illinois is known for its strict traffic laws, so it’s totally understandable that you’re worried! If you get 15 to 44 points, you can have your license suspended for two months in the state of
. However, the state will typically only apply this type of punishment if you receive three or more traffic convictions within a 12-month period.
There is good news, though! Since photo-enforced speeding tickets are a little different from being pulled over by the police, no points will be added to your record if you plead guilty and pay the associated fine! This means that the tickets won’t count towards a suspended license and your insurance rates won’t increase.
