How many points before your license is suspended in California?

I got a speeding ticket for driving a little too fast down the 405 last weekend, and now I’m concerned about my driving record. How many points can I get before my license is suspended in California?

Fortunately, a speeding ticket is only one point against your driving record. In
California
, your license may face suspension or revocation if you acquire four points within 12 months, six points within 24 months, or eight points within 36 months.
While a minor speeding ticket is only one point against your record, other more severe violations will result in two points. Some examples include hit-and-run collisions, driving over 100mph, evading law enforcement, and more. Remember that points are added to your record upon conviction, not upon violation.
Maintaining a clean driving record is one of the best ways to mitigate your
car insurance
costs—insurance providers won’t hesitate raising your rate after a traffic violation.
