How many miles is 100k?

I grew up in the U.K. but recently moved to the U.S. for work. I’m still having trouble converting metric to imperial. How many miles is 100k?

Imperial measurements are certainly confusing to the uninitiated—and even to people who use them daily! To answer your question, 100k or 100 kilometers is 62.14 miles. So if you hear someone say that it’s about 60 miles somewhere, you can roughly estimate that it’s 100 kilometers.
Keep in mind that speed limits and
fuel economy
also change due to imperial measurements. Some other things you should familiarize yourself with are:
  • Miles per hour (mph)—remember that 100 kilometers per hour would equal 62 mph
  • Miles per gallon (mpg)—this is how imperial countries measure fuel economy, so remember that 1 km/liter equals 2.35 mpg
Unlike much of Europe, the U.S. isn’t exactly known for great public transit. So if you need a car, remember that you will also need car insurance. That’s when the
