The Lotus Esprit has made a place for itself in global supercar history. Manufactured from 1976 to 2004, a total of 10,675 Lotus Esprits were made with over 24 variations throughout its 28-year production span.
The two main styles of Lotus Esprit were Giugiario’s style and Steven’s style with the following total production numbers:
Giugario’s Esprit: 5,829 units
Steven’s Esprit: 4,846 units
The main difference between these two styles is the finishing touches of their designers. Giorgetto Giugiario was the original designer of the Esprit and favored sharp angles in a wedge shape. Peter Stevens took over the Esprit’s design in 1988 and softened many of the supercar’s edges for a sleeker, more modern appearance.
