A couple of years in, the more powerful XKR options were introduced alongside the XK8.
Initially, the XK8 used a then-new 4.0-liter V8 engine capable of up to 290 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. From 2003 onward, its engine was upgraded to a 4.2-liter engine, and those numbers were boosted to 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.
For comparison, the XKR’s horsepower ranged from 370 to 400 horsepower and 387 to 408 pound-feet of torque.
