From 1998 to 2019, around 3.6 million
Ford Focus
models were produced in the United States.
The Focus first debuted in the U.S. in 1998 as a compact car. It was offered as a hatchback, sedan, and wagon, and it turned into one of the most budget-friendly, and fuel efficient vehicles in Ford’s U.S. fleet. It was discontinued after the 2019 model year.
The Focus became legendary for its excellent fuel economy and nimble handling, in both the sedan and wagon guises. That said, it was often mocked for multiple reasons. A very tight back seat, smaller cargo hold than rivals, and a not-exactly spunky powertrain made many consumers stay away from the Focus. That said, along the way the Focus was offered in sportier versions, including the high-performance
Ford Focus ST
, as well as a fire-breathing RS MK3, which boasted a thunderous 350 horsepower.
But the Focus was, above all, a family car. While there have been rumors of a 2023 Ford Focus being made available to U.S. customers, as of now no such offering exists stateside.
