Great question! In 2018 (the year the model was introduced), 3,300 Dodge Challenger SRT Demons were produced: 3,000 units were made available for U.S. customers and 300 for Canadian customers.
As the first—and only—purposefully-built street-legal production drag car, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is a force to be reckoned with. Equipped with a supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 engine capable of generating an unbelievable 808 horsepower @ 6,300 rpm and 770 lb-ft of torque, the SRT Demon can reach speeds of 211 mph and boasts an impressive 2.3 second zero-to-60 time.
If that wasn’t enough, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was also offered with the optional “Demon Crate” upgrade, which added a different powertrain control module and bumped the total horsepower up to 840 hp.
The SRT Demon also came with two separate key fobs—one limited horsepower to 500 hp and the other unlocked the max 808 / 840 hp, depending on the control module.
If it wasn’t already clear, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was built for a single purpose—speed—and when it comes to drag cars, speed and weight go hand-in-hand. With a curb weight of 4,280 lbs, the Demon is almost 200 lbs lighter than its predecessor, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
To do that, the front passenger seat, rear seating, and several other interior accessories had to go, which was a favorable trade-off for the one-of-a-kind driving experience the SRT Demon offers.
