How many cylinders does a Jeep Liberty have?

My grandfather just gifted me a Jeep Liberty. I’ve never had a Jeep before so I don’t know much about how they drive. Can you tell me how many cylinders the engine has?

Gifted Jeep? Sounds pretty great! A
Jeep Liberty
has six cylinders in its base engine.
There used to be a 2.4-liter four-cylinder base engine and a 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine option for the Liberty. By 2007, both four-cylinder options were axed, leaving the 3.7-liter V6 as the only engine available for this Jeep model.
The Liberty was part of Jeep’s lineup for model years 2002 to 2012. It was applauded for having off-road chops similar to the
Jeep Wrangler
, but test drivers complained that the V6 engine was sluggish and a total gas guzzler—it got 17 MPG in the city.
In Jeep Liberty’s final year, it added a bit of tech flair with rear parking sensors as an available upgrade, but the same V6 engine remained right up until the end. The Liberty comes standard with rear-wheel drive (RWD), but four-wheel drive (FWD) is also an option.
Despite some shortcomings, the Liberty had a solid ten-year run. Ultimately, Jeep decided to replace it with the latest resurrection of the
Cherokee
.
