How many cylinders are in a Kia Seltos?
So my next-door neighbor’s parents moved in after downsizing. My friend’s dad is a tinkerer, but he broke both hands fixing the chandelier above their dining room table. His Kia’s got an engine issue, and his son told him I’m an engineer and good with my hands, so his pop has been hounding me ever since. My friend didn’t tell his father I’m a computer engineer. Good thing I’m up for the challenge. How many cylinders are in a 2022 Kia Seltos engine?

While the ‘22 Seltos is offered with two powertrain choices, both the base 2.0-liter engine and the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine have four cylinders.
Now, in case you don’t know what a cylinder is (most people don’t), impress your friend’s dad with the following: A cylinder is a closed metallic chamber in an engine where fuel is combusted and power is produced. Several components make up a cylinder, including a piston, an inlet, and an exhaust tip.
The piston moves up and down, which generates the power that moves a vehicle. That’s why an engine’s power is partially determined by its cylinders. Most engines have four, six, or eight cylinders. And they are aligned in one of three ways—a line (called inline), a V-shape (hence V6), or a flat arrangement.
The 2022 Kia Seltos has a four-cylinder engine no matter the trim you’re working on. The base engine is a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 146 horsepower, paired with a continuously variable transmission. The upgraded engine choice is a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower, and it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
