To save a few bucks, I’m borrowing a friend’s truck to pick up some mulch. How many cubic yards in a 6 foot truck bed?

To some extent, the cubic yards you can get in a 6-foot truck bed depend upon how deeply you spread the mulch in the bed.
Here is a helpful chart:
Depth of layer | Cubic Yards |

18 inches | 1.5 cu yd |
12 inches | 1 cu yd |
6 inches | .5 cu yd |
So a 6-foot truck bed will likely hold between .5 to 1.5 cubic yards. That said, it may be best to underestimate the amount to ensure you aren’t having to make two trips or leave a trail of mulch behind you on the road.
