I just moved to Seattle from the Midwest, and I can’t believe how many cars are on the roads here. I’ve lived in a few other states, and I think this is the worst traffic I’ve seen yet. Out of curiosity, how many cars are in Washington?

, so you might see heavy traffic if you’re driving in any of the state’s more populous cities.As a new resident, don’t forget that the state requires you to register your car within 30 days of moving—and it’s important to act quickly since law enforcement can issue a citation if you’re pulled over with out-of-state registration.
Here’s what you need to do in order to register your car in Washington:
- Visit your local DMV office and fill out a vehicle title application
- Submit an odometer statement if your car’s model year is 2011 or newer
- Turn over your title and registration card from your previous state
- Pay the registration fee
