covers a length of 180.9 inches, which translates to 15 feet, 0.9 inches. That makes it a fairly compact SUV, perfect for city driving.Here’s a look at how the RAV4’s exterior length measures up to the competition:
- Honda CR-V: 182.1 inches, or 15 feet, 2.1 inches.
- Kia Soul: 165.2 inches, or 13 feet, 9.2 inches
- Ford Escape: 180.5 inches, or 15 feet, 0.5 inches
- Mazda CX-5: 180.1 inches, or 15 feet, 0.1 inches
- Toyota Highlander: 194.9 inches, or 16 feet, 2.9 inches
Of the six compact SUVs above, the RAV4 lands right in the middle in terms of body length. By far, the most compact is the Kia Soul, which measures 13 feet 9.2 inches in length. But, while the RAV4 is 17 inches longer than the Kia Soul, Rav owners gain 7 1/2 cubic feet of cargo space.
So, if compactness is paramount, you may want to consider grabbing yourself a Kia Soul. But if you want an all-around great city SUV with good cargo capacity, the RAV4 fits the bill.
