How long does it take to learn to drive?

How quickly will I be able to learn how to drive once I start taking lessons? I got a late start on driver’s ed and I want to get my license as quickly as I can but I don’t know how long it will actually take me.

Try not to worry too much about getting a late start on getting your license! It takes the average person about 45 hours of driving lessons to learn how to drive. To perfect the skill, though, most people need an additional 22 hours of practice behind the wheel.
If your goal is to learn to drive within six months, for example, you should try to practice for 11 to 12 hours per month in order to reach that goal. However, every
new driver
is different; it could take you significantly less or significantly more time to master the skill of driving. Only time—and practice—will tell!
